23 units used across India: square foot, gaj (square yard), square metre, are, hectare, acre, square kilometre, cent or decimal, guntha, ground, ankanam, kanal, marla, sarsai, killa, murabba, Rajasthan pucca and kachha bigha and biswa, West Bengal bigha, katha or cottah, and chatak.

The values here follow commonly used figures (Jaipur pucca bigha 27,225 sq ft, kachha bigha 17,424 sq ft). For any purchase, confirm which unit and which value is written on the jamabandi, khasra or title paper.

How do I convert price per gaj into price per sq ft?
Divide the rate per gaj by 9. The Price converter tab does this for every unit.
Is 1 bigha the same everywhere?
No. In Jaipur a pucca bigha is commonly 27,225 sq ft and a kachha bigha 17,424 sq ft, but other states and districts use different values.
What are cent, guntha and ground?
Regional units: a cent is 435.6 sq ft (South India and some eastern states), a guntha is 1,089 sq ft (Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana) and a ground is 2,400 sq ft (Tamil Nadu).
